We were disappointed to find the ponds at Chincoteague virtually non-existent (apparently partly from lack of rain, partly from their water management policies), so the marsh walk and wildlife loop were not particularly productive. Guess I'll call ahead next time! So we ended up spending most of our time going back and forth along the road to the beach, and would sometimes find some birds to shoot at the water's edge. This particular evening, there were quite a few juvenile and adult black skimmers, and we had a blast shooting them. Sometimes there were flocks of a dozen or two birds, and you didn't know where to shoot! There was a little bit of dusk sunlight, but not much, as clouds along the horizon blocked it as the evening progressed.
